Free seedlings offered at Forsyth tree planting event

A limited number of swamp chestnut and dogwood tree seedlings will be available to residents to take home and plant at Forsyth County’s annual Georgia Arbor Day event.

Keep Forsyth Beautiful and the Forsyth County Master Naturalists and Master Gardeners will host the tree planting ceremony, to begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at The Orchard of Chattahoochee Pointe, 5790 Chattahoochee Point Drive, according to a county announcement.

House Rep. Todd Jones, R-Cumming, will deliver the Arbor Day proclamation, and the master naturalists and gardeners will give a “How to plant a tree from bare roots” demonstration. After the planting of seedlings, Keep Forsyth County Beautiful will lead a “Trees of the Riverbank” walk along the Chattahoochee River.
