Four words in a description of the autopsy of 2-year-old Laila Daniel have called into question the foster mother's contention that she was trying to save the child when Laila was fatally injured.
Jennifer Rosenbaum, who had temporary custody of Laila and has been charged with murder in her death, has asserted to police that she may have fatally injured the child while trying to administer CPR and other life-saving efforts.
Rosenbaum's attorney insisted on Tuesday that the autopsy report does not contradict her client's story and said Rosenbaum offered the police proof of what happened.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution obtained hundreds of pages of files on Laila and her family from the state Division of Family and Children Services. Those files contained a description of the autopsy on the 2-year-old's body, including the four words that seem to dispute Rosenbaum's story.
The AJC's report notes that the DFCS description applied to the preliminary results of the autopsy done by the GBI medical examiner.
