A mother in Clayton County stabbed four people with a kitchen knife after she claims they attacked her children.
“I jumped up and I ran in and I grabbed a knife, and I started immediately trying to get him off of my son,” Ruby Dickinson-Ford told Channel 2 Action News.
The stabbings happened during an argument Monday night between neighbors on Southshore Court, off Tara Boulevard near Lovejoy.
Dickinson-Ford told Channel 2 that she stabbed three men and a woman who attacked her 16-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son at her home.
She said that earlier in the night her daughter got into a fight with a neighbor’s daughter. She thought the matter was over, but then her neighbor and two other men ran into her home and started attacking her son, she said. She grabbed a kitchen knife and began stabbing them. She then ran outside and saw her neighbor’s son and his girlfriend attacking her daughter, and she stabbed them. The attackers were able to run away.
Dickinson-Ford said she was trying to defend her family.
“I went into mother-mode. I didn’t care about myself or anything else. I just wanted to protect my children,” she told Channel 2.
The wounded were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
“I will do it again. If you come on my property and you try to hurt my children I will do it again,” Dickinson-Ford said.
Channel 2 was unable to contact the neighbors.
Police are continuing their investigation, and Dickinson-Ford has not been arrested at this time.
