Forsyth County has set a community open house for May 14 to let citizens view and comment on a subarea plan to create an integrated trail system in the northern part of the county.

“The plan includes sidewalks, bicycle paths, multi-use trails and supporting facilities that foster community health through promotion of bicycle travel and increased walkability,” according to an announcement of the meeting, 6 to 8 p.m. in Suite 220 of the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming.

The proposal builds upon the Forsyth County Transportation & Pedestrian Walkways 2025 Plan. The document calls for connecting neighborhoods, county facilities and natural resources including Lake Lanier, Sawnee Mountain and the Etowah River.
