Forsyth County announced a public hearing on extending a development-related moratorium.

The Forsyth Board of Commissioners will hold the hearing on extending the moratorium on accepting land disturbance permit applications for Res4 and Res6 zoned properties. The hearing is 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in Suite 220 of the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming.

The county did not state how long an extension commissioners may consider. A temporary moratorium adopted last month expires Feb. 21.

The moratorium is in effect while commissioners consider modifications to the county’s Unified Development Code “to require that Res4 and Res6 developments comply with certain recently enacted architectural design standards,” the county said.

Commissioners are concerned "any existing Res6 and Res4 developments will seek to pull development permits while such UDC modifications are pending … to avoid the design standards," according to the Jan. 14 resolution authorizing the moratorium. Information: https://bit.ly/2vUdUxb
