Forsyth County Schools officials say the window is now open for students and parents to make out-of-district requests for the 2016-17 school year, with the deadline set for Jan. 29.
The school system says such a request is required when a student is moving from one school level to another (such as elementary to middle) and seeks to go to a school other than the student’s “home” school, moving into the Forsyth County School District or moving within Forsyth County and requesting a school other than “home” or requesting a change from the current approved out-of-district school.
School system officials said that a number of campuses are already over capacity and can’t accept out-of-district requests for new students. They also stress that parents/guardians of out-of-district students have to provide their own transportation.
