Forsyth County employees will be getting pay bump — and in some cases a double one — in a move aimed at increasing salaries to match those in comparable local governments.

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners late last week approved a 2.2 percent cost-of-living raise that’s retroactive to Jan. 1. It covers all full time and part-time employees who were active as of May 18.

The commission also approved a market adjustment to be applied to employees in positions that in a study by county-hired Evergreen Solutions were identified as having salaries below the market. In addition, those employees who are eligible have individual salaries below the midpoint of their position salary grade. Those raises will kick in with the June 29 pay period.

County officials said the hikes will cost $1.36 million, which has been budgeted for in the general fund.
