The new Forsyth County Courthouse in downtown Cumming now has a visual centerpiece—thanks to money appropriated by two county governmental agencies. The sculpture of lady justice was unveiled during ceremonies by superior court and county commission and administrative officials.
Forsyth county spokeswoman Jodi Gardner said the statue cost $118,000. Some $68,000 of that total came from Forsyth County General Fund Reserves, which she said may be reimbursed if money is available from the jail/courthouse project budget. Another $50,000 was appropriated by the Forsyth County Development Authority.
She said the jail/courthouse budget may also be used to reimburse county reserves for the $14,700 cost of the statue’s granite base.
The five-story, SPLOST-funded courthouse debuted in March.
