Forsyth County Schools officials are moving toward finalizing revised school attendance boundaries for the 2016-2017 academic year.

The board meets at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Board of Education Center, 1120 Dahlonega Highway, Cumming, to hear a final draft proposal.

District staffers and board members have been working on redistricting since August, both to ease overcrowding and to populate both Brandywine Elementary and DeSana Middle, which are set to open in August. District officials have been considering changes to attendance lines at six elementary and three middle schools to meet the twin goals.

An earlier version of the proposed changes drew flack on more than one front, including from a parent who complained kids would be forced to cross Ga. 400 to get to the new middle school.

Final adoption of the redistricting plan is set for Nov. 19.
