The Forsyth County school system has been awarded the highest possible rating from one of the country’s major credit rating agencies. Moody’s Investors Service upgraded the district’s general obligation bond debt to Aaa from Aa1. Forsyth County Schools is one of only 77 school districts in the country to be awarded that designation.

The district also has the second highest rating from Standard and Poor’s in Georgia and the highest-possible Financial Efficiency Rating from the Georgia Department of Education. The Moody’s upgrade impacts $410.3 million unlimited general obligation bonds and $24.9 million limited general obligation bonds.

The rating service said the district’s strengths include a large, diverse tax base with above-average socioeconomic factors, a sound reserve position despite recent deficits and demonstrated management willingness to maintain fiscal balance.
