Forsyth County officials want the public’s take on an upcoming project to widen heavily-traveled McGinnis Ferry Road.

Forsyth County Engineering Department officials will hold an open house 5 to 8 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Forsyth Conference Center, 3410 Ronald Reagan Blvd., Cumming to lay out their plans. Residents can give feedback and get their individual questions answered.

The planned project would widen about 4.5 miles of McGinnis Ferry from Sargent Road to Union Hill Road/Ronald Reagan Boulevard. The project includes two lanes in each direction with a 20-foot-wide raised median, with a multi-use path on the north side of the arterial and a sidewalk on the south side.

The 2014 voter-approved Forsyth County Transportation Bond is providing $18.1 million for the project, with the Georgia Department of Transportation kicking in another $10 million.
