Forsyth County announced three public hearings in July on proposed millage rates to determine property taxes.

The hearings are 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday, July 9, and 6 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming. The county Board of Commissioners is scheduled to vote on the millage rates when it meets at 6:30 p.m., July 23.

The maintenance and operating rate will be maintained at 4.791 mills, resulting in a net 2.07% increase over the rollback millage rate due to growth in the tax digest, the county said. The tax digest is growing by 4.67%, of which 2.55% is due to new construction and 2.12%, to property value reassessments.

The fire rate will remain 2.175 mills, while the bond rate will be reduced by 4.1% to 0.930 mills.

“These rates will fund the county’s 2021 general operating budget, which is currently in the preliminary stages of development,” the county said. “Forsyth County continues to have millage rates among the lowest in metro Atlanta.”
