A request for bids is to go out soon to construct a building of about 20,000 square feet for the Forsyth County Voter Registration and Elections office.

Forsyth commissioners last week approved a $4.7 million budget resolution for the project, allowing the bid process to move forward. The building is planned next to the county tax commissioner’s office at 1092 Tribble Gap Road, Cumming.

The site already has a warehouse that voter registration uses with other departments; it stores elections equipment and to counts ballots there, a county spokeswoman said. Staff will move from the County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming, to the new building when it is completed.
