The Forsyth County Board of Education is ramping up toward significant construction projects at both North and South Forsyth high schools.
The board voted to hire Balfour Beatty Construction as construction manager for South Forsyth High School and Barton Malow of Alpharetta at North Forsyth. The managers will provide cost estimate, value engineering and scheduling services for the work at both campuses.
Plans are for 22 new classrooms at North Forsyth High, including ROTC facilities, and 21 new classrooms at South Forsyth. New cafeterias and gymnasiums will also be built at both schools, with the work being funded under a 2014 bond referendum.
Officials plan to sign actual construction contracts for the work in May. Architects are finalizing plans for each site in the meantime.
