Forsyth County’s animal shelter has a new director, the second in less than a year’s time.

The newly-appointed Jeanie Curphey joined the facility in July of 2014 as shelter coordinator, just prior to the opening of the 13,700 square foot facility in north Forsyth this past August. Prior to working at Forsyth, Curphey was a field inspector for the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Animal Industry Division.

As shelter manager, she’ll supervise and manage shelter personnel, as well as overseeing animal care, shelter upkeep, animal adoptions and community outreach. She replaces Chris Peninger, who resigned.
