Ga. 400 drivers will be getting more elbow room in North Fulton.
Beginning Monday, the Georgia Department of Transportation will open several new miles of flex shoulder lanes for use during the morning and afternoon rush hours. Northbound commuters will gain 4 new miles. The new stretches will be from Abernathy Road to the MARTA North Springs station, MARTA North Springs to Northridge Road and Old Milton Parkway to Windward Parkway.
One more mile will open for southbound commuters, from the North Springs station to Abernathy Road. In addition, GDOT said it will build additional flex shoulder lanes from Holcomb Bridge Road to Old Milton Parkway at a cost of $850,000.
Hours for use of the lanes are from 6-10 a.m. and 4-7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
