First veterans office opens in Cobb

The first Veterans Field Service office in Cobb County opened this week at 1150 Powder Springs St., Marietta.

The office, adjacent to a Cobb Senior Services Center, will help veterans with state and federal benefits questions. The office, open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, is expected to reduce travel and wait times for Cobb vets who previously drove to Atlanta, Canton or Carrollton offices for help.

The Georgia Department of Veterans Service estimates more than 48,000 veterans live in Cobb.
