The FBI is looking for a man it says is responsible for a series of armed robberies of banks and stores in the metro Atlanta area. Authorities said he is considered armed and dangerous.
An arrest warrant has been issued for 46-year-old Michael Jerome Winfield, of Atlanta, for Tuesday’s armed robbery of the Wells Fargo in the 4000 block of Lavista Road in Tucker, the FBI said Wednesday. The suspect, who had a handgun, announced the robbery and told the teller to put the money in a brown paper bag, then left with an undisclosed amount of cash, officials said.
Winfield is also wanted for:
- Robbery of the Walgreens in the 500 block of Thornton Road in Lithia Springs on Feb. 17.
- Armed robbery of the BB&T Bank in the 5900 block of Northpoint Parkway in Alpharetta on Feb. 11.
- Armed robbery of the BP gas station in the 2300 block of Cobb Parkway in Smyrna on Feb. 9.
- Armed robbery, aggravated assault and other charges connected to theft from the Walgreens at 23 South Marietta Parkway in Marietta on Feb. 8.
- Two gas station robberies in Sandy Springs.
