The City of Fayetteville is seeking school board approval for a slight expansion of a proposed tax allocation district.

Brian Wismer, director of community development, explained the proposed TAD boundary changes to the Fayette County Board of Education Monday, noting new areas near Grady Avenue and Church Street that would be promoted for redevelopment.

Wismer said the TAD’s short-term tax breaks could result in $18 million more in ESPLOST and property tax revenues for the city and the school system over 20 years.

The school board will vote later this month.
