Following a suggestion made by students at a City Council meeting, Fayetteville’s government is accepting design ideas for a new official flag.

The city recommends that submissions be simple, using two or three basic colors and meaningful symbolism, and avoiding duplication with other flags. Designers must certify that they are the original creators of the artwork, which cannot include any copyrighted or trademarked material, and relinquish all rights to the design. The city will acknowledge artists whose work contributes to the final design, but reserves the right to alter, modify or combine designs to create a new flag. The City Council will have the final say on whether a new flag is ultimately adopted.

Submissions can be sent via https://fayetteville-ga.gov/flag/ by Oct. 15.
