Winning the Fantasy 5 jackpot may have been a dream come true for a Fayetteville man, but it took him a little while to realize his good luck.

Ocie Burns Jr. claimed his $338,506 prize Monday at Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta. He matched all five winning numbers in the March 11 drawing but didn’t know that for a week.

“I had the ticket sitting on my computer desk,” Burns said in the news release. “It sat there for a week, and I decided to check it before throwing it away.”

Burns, a quality auditor for an aerosol plant, said he repeatedly checked the results on the Georgia Lottery’s website to be sure.

He said he plans to pay off his mortgage and invest the rest of his jackpot.

He purchased his winning Quik Pik ticket in Riverdale.
