Because the city of Fayetteville is still in the process of rewriting its land development ordinance, the City Council voted on Feb. 7 to extend the current moratorium on any new Planned Community District rezoning applications.

Senior Planner Julie Brown told the council that staff members are still finalizing the new Unified Development Ordinance; the moratorium will remain in effect until Aug. 1 or until the UDO is adopted. The council also agreed to extend the city’s moratorium on annexing property from Fayette County until Aug. 1. The city had already extended the moratorium by six months last November.

Fayetteville recently adopted a new two-step annexation application process, and City Manager Ray Gibson plans to meet with county representatives to negotiate a new annexation agreement and map.
