Fayette County’s Board of Commissioners voted recently to update the local ordinances that regulate the use of water vessels by minors. The intent was to make county regulations match state regulations, as they apply to younger people using boats and other craft on Fayette reservoirs.
The amended language allows children ages 12-15 to use vessels powered manually, electronically or by wind on Lake Kedron, Lake McIntosh, Lake Horton and at Starr’s Mill as long as someone 18 or older is also in the vessel and has the required authorization and boater education training.
