Fayette school board elects officers

Barry Marchman will remain the chair of the Fayette County Board of Education in 2018. During its last regular meeting of the year, the board voted 4-1 on Dec. 11 to extend Marchman’s tenure.

The board also voted 4-1 to name District 3 representative Scott Hollowell as vice chair, replacing Diane Basham, who remains on the board in the District 2 seat. The board’s most senior member, Leonard Presberg of District 4, cast the dissenting votes. There were no general elections for school board this year, but the District 2 and 4 seats will be open next fall.
