Fayette requires golf cart registration

Anyone who owns a golf cart in unincorporated Fayette County must register the vehicle with the county by Jan. 30.

The requirement is part of new changes to golf cart operation ordinances enacted last year. The county has reciprocal registration agreements with Fayetteville and Tyrone, but Peachtree City has refused a similar arrangement, even though county residents must pay $60 per year to use their carts in Peachtree City.

Unincorporated Fayette residents must pay a $12 fee for a five-year registration decal by bringing proof of ownership or insurance to the Finance Department office at 140 Stonewall Ave. in Fayetteville.
