The Fayette County of Commissioners voted 5-0 last Thursday to recognize Aaron Wright as the new Republican appointee to the Board of Elections through 2020.
The board had briefly delayed its normally routine action due to allegations of improper voting procedures by some members of the Fayette County Republican Party. Tyrone Jones, the local GOP chairman, denies those claims, saying the group “followed procedure every step of the way,” and suggested that cronyism was a factor in the “unfounded complaints.” Wright will replace Marilyn Watt on the three-person board.
