Faced with scaling back plans for a new park near the Fayette County Justice Center, the Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 March 26 to scratch the park and reallocate the funds to another project. Commissioner Steve Brown said the Justice Center Park Committee, which had conceived the plan, decided that eliminating the pavilion and not paving the walking paths was contrary to the park’s original intent. However, the $125,000 proposed for the park will now go toward repairing and enhancing the Heritage Park fountain at the county’s Administrative Complex.
