A tract of land just north of the Peachtree City border will not be approved for high-density development, following the Fayette County Board of Commissioners’ 5-0 rejection of a rezoning petition Thursday night. The owners of 101 acres off Dogwood Trail had asked the county to allow 68 single-family homes to be built on the site, a year after the City Council of Peachtree City declined to annex the property for similar development.

The Fayette County Planning Commission recommended against the rezoning on June 2. BOC members and nearby Kedron Hills residents cited concerns about increased traffic, as well as setting a precedent for other higher density development in that part of the county.
