Plans for a “passive park” on 15 acres of property outside the Fayette County Justice Center were deferred by the Board of Commissioners on Tuesday. The proposal to spend $125,000 on the first phase of the park, which would include walking trails, a patio and a community flower garden, was questioned by commissioners who preferred to see existing parks upgraded and more of the Justice Park project funds come from private donations. The estimated total cost of the park would be $323,600.
The commission voted 4-0-1 (with Randy Ognio abstaining) to ask county staff for a modified proposal to be considered at the next meeting.
