The Fayette County Board of Education has approved the sale of its headquarters building at 210 Stonewall Ave. West in Fayetteville.
The board voted 5-0 on Jan. 22 to sell the 9.77-acre property, which includes the office building as well as the former transportation complex behind it, to the city of Fayetteville for $3.1 million. The board designated the property as surplus and will close on the transaction by March 1.
The school district retains the right to occupy the building and use the parking lot through Dec. 31 while it relocates its administrative offices to the LaFayette Educational Center across from Fayette County High School.
