The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a training session for residents interested in running for public office this year. The nonpartisan Candidate Academy will be held 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Feb. 2 at the chamber offices at 600 W. Lanier Ave., Suite 205, in Fayetteville.
The agenda will cover filing requirements, ethics compliance, successful campaigning and the roles and responsibilities of elected officers. Speakers will include former state representatives Matt Ramsey and Virgil Fludd, as well as other state and county officials. The event is free and includes lunch, but registration is required.
