Based on the results of a poll of students and parents, Fayette County Public Schools may expand its career pathways courses to include more engineering and fine arts. The Board of Education was given the results at its Dec. 11 meeting, representing the replies of 2,163 students in eighth through eleventh grade, and responses from 869 of their parents.
About a quarter of the students preferred either engineering (computer/information technology, civil engineering and architecture) or film and creative arts courses (including production, animation and design); about 14 percent expressed interest in both. The county says it expects to offer more such classes by next fall once staffing and other details are established.
