For summer reading at the Fayette County Public Library next year, you’re going to need a new chiller with your thriller.
The Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 on Sept. 13 to replace the library’s air-cooled chiller, a major component of the building’s air-conditioning system. The 21-year-old unit has exceeded its life expectancy and requires either a $32,000 temporary repair or a replacement that will cost approximately $95,000.
The commission opted for the latter and will finance the project using $49,000 left over (thanks to a state grant) from the library’s recent roof replacement, as well as $46,000 of general contingency funds.
