Fayette County has replaced its 911 emergency phone system with new equipment that will improve service to residents.

911 Director Bernard J. Brown said that the new computers, monitors and software will soon give the public and first responders the ability to text to 911, and allows the command post to go off-site and still take emergency calls.

The system also has the capability for enhanced data management and analytics.

The project cost $487,725 and was implemented using Airbus DS in California.
