Residents of unincorporated Fayette County, Tyrone, Brooks and Woolsey may see savings in fire insurance premiums based on a new rating issued by the Insurance Services Office Inc. The ISO recently surveyed Fayette’s Fire & Emergency Services department and reclassified its rating to class 3/3Y, based on a 1-10 scale with the lower numbers meaning higher capabilities of responding to structure fires.

The evaluation looked at operations, training, deployment, personnel, emergency communications and water supplies.

Fire Chief David Scarbrough said residents in those areas should contact their insurance agents to advise them of the new rating.
