A stormwater repair project in north Fayette County has closed part of Kenwood Road to through traffic until August.

The affected area is between Longview Road and New Hope Road, north of Fayetteville. The project will include the demolition and removal of two failing 96-inch corrugated metal pipes, which will be replaced by two reinforced concrete box culverts about 8 feet square.

Two other stormwater repair projects will also be completed in the same area during this time, one on Creekwood Court and another on Mercedes Trail. Both streets will have at least one lane open at all times for residents to access their homes. The 3.4-mile detour around the closed portion of Kenwood Road will be along New Hope Road, Brogdon Road and Longview Road.

All three repairs are being funded by revenue from Fayette’s special purpose local option sales tax.
