Fayette County residents whose homes are on private well water systems can get temporary access to county water if they lose service during emergencies.
On March 22, the Board of Commissioners approved a recommendation from the Water Committee to let residents of 12 communities opt in to get drinking water from the Fayette County Water System for up to 30 days. The cost to users would include a $20 service connection charge plus an activation fee and meter installation fee per private system. Water usage would be billed at a rate equal to three times the standard rate for FCWS users.
