The qualifying period for those interested in running for five local government positions in Fayette County will end at noon on March 9.

The open seats include Districts 2 and 4 on the Board of Education, Districts 3 and 4 on the Board of Commissioners, and state court judge. In addition to meeting residency and other requirements, candidates must pay qualifying fees of $306 for school board, $625.01 for commission and $3,409.16 for judge. Forms must be submitted at the Elections Office at 140 Stonewall Ave. West, Suite 208, in Fayetteville.

Primary elections will be held on May 22.
