Fayette County has approved a funding request for one local nonprofit but not another. The Board of Commissioners voted 4-0-1 on Aug. 10 to give Fayette FACTOR, which coordinates resources for children and families, a one-time $7,000 grant to help the group offset its higher rent costs. Commissioner Charles Oddo abstained.

However, the board voted 3-2 to deny a request for $14,000 in operating funds to the Fayette CARE Clinic, which provides medical and dental services to hundreds of low-income residents per year. The board wants to develop a comprehensive policy for giving money to nonprofits.
