The family of Gwinnett native Ione Huff Clarke has donated more than $450,000 to Gwinnett Technical College for scholarships.

The Clarke Family Nurse Scholarship Endowment will award multiple scholarships each year. Earlier this month four Gwinnett Tech nursing students became the first recipients.

The endowment is funded by the estate of Elmer and Ione Clarke through their sons, Jim, Gary and David. Ione Clarke was a nurse for 40 years. Born in Duluth, she graduated from West Georgia College and the Macon School of Nursing and worked in pediatric, surgery and emergency departments.
