Before this weekend, people living in Sandy Springs or Dunwoody had to travel a bit to buy balls, jerseys, sports shoes and gear.

The closest Dick’s Sports Goods stores were in Alpharetta or at Lenox.

But a ride to Dick’s will be a quick trip for those folks now. The new Dick’s Sporting Goods at Perimeter Center will have its grand opening this weekend, and the occasion will be highlighted by giveaways and an appearance from an Atlanta Falcons’ linebacker.

Deion Jones, a second round pick from the 2016 draft who tallied 75 tackles for the Falcons this past season, will be at Dick's on Saturday to greet fans and sign autographs. A wristband is required to meet with Jones and those will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis beginning when the store opens at 8 a.m. that day.

Jones, a 22-year-old draftedfrom LSU, made a big impact on the Falcons as a rookie. He picked off three interceptions and ran two back for touchdowns. He also forced a fumble and defended 11 passes on the season. Jones had seven tackles in the Super Bowl.

The grand opening weekend will feature several giveaways. On Friday, the first 100 people through the store will receive a free Adidas t-shirt. On Saturday and Sunday, the first 100 people will receive a mystery gift card.

Dick’s has been open for two days already. It will be open for business from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

It is located at 1155 Mt. Vernon Highway. A $10-off coupon and more information can be found on its website.
