A Forsyth County jail inmate who walked away from a Cumming work detail Friday afternoon is back in custody.

The sheriff’s office says Koby Blanchard, 39, turned himself in at the county detention center about 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Blanchard’s previous charges included burglary, arson and theft, and law officers say additional charges will now be added. He’d been last seen at the Cumming Police Department, where he worked during daytime hours.

An alleged accomplice in his getaway was arrested late Friday. Margaret Cheryl Broome was charged with aiding escape, hindering apprehension and possession of controlled substances.

Sheriff’s officials had stressed that Blanchard was not considered a threat to public safety, and was not believed armed.
