Emory University closed Friday ahead of snow and ice conditions expected to hit metro Atlanta.

The DeKalb County university announced the closure late Thursday night. The statement said employees of Emory Healthcare, which operates Emory Hospital and a number of smaller facilities around metro Atlanta, were advised to be ready for news on how the snow might affect the locations.

“During severe weather, all Emory Healthcare hospitals will remain open and operational 24 hours a day/7 days a week to care for our patients,” a spokeswoman told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
