EAST POINT, Ga. — A photo of a sleeping police officer in his cruiser has circulated on the Internet for weeks, and now the police department is taking action.
Channel 2’s Erica Byfield learned the police department started an internal investigation on Sept. 9 after a citizen sent them the photo. The officer in the photo came forward and admitted it was him.
The officer said he was working an extra job in uniform and in his patrol car at the time.
The police chief says he will suspend the officer from working an extra job and also suspended him for three days from active duty.
The officer will have a chance to appeal the suspension.
