East Point will host a new playground building event. In recognition of the city being designated as a Playful City USA Community, a new playground will be built from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the John D. Milner Athletic Complex 3009 Randall St. A kickoff ceremony will commence at 9 a.m., followed by the playground construction with 200 volunteers.
The playground build is also sponsored by Let’s Play, an initiative by its nonprofit partner, the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, to provide kids and families with the tools, places and inspiration to make active play a daily priority.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will follow at 3:30 p.m.
