In August 2017, a point repair was completed to fix the broken water main on Central Ave between Bachelor Ave and Sylvan Road. The water main is ageing and has experienced several unexpected main breaks in the past few years. The main breaks have caused loss of water to residents and commercial businesses within the area. As a result of the August water main break the section of Central Ave experienced road surface, subgrade and storm drainage pipe damage and the road has been closed since the August main break.

The entire water main on Central Avenuie is currently undergoing evaluation and design for the permanent water main replacement project. The roadway can’t be repaired until the water main replacement project has been completed. The road along the section of road where the August water main point repair was performed has been compromised and the city has no options but to close the section of road for through traffic effective thru January 2018.

The businesses on Central Ave will still have access on Central Ave from eastbound and from westbound traffic on Central Avenue.

Detour signs will be in place .
