The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to rename the East Marietta Library to the Sewell Mill Library and Cultural Center.

The name change was recommended by the Cobb Library Board of Trustees and staff since the new library is close to the historic Sewell Mill ruins, Sewell Mill Creek, Old Sewell Road and Sewell Park. The 8,600-square-foot, two-story library is at 2051 Lower Roswell Road in Marietta next to Sewell Park.

Construction is underway on the existing site for the new 30,000-square-foot, joint-use facility that will house the new library and a cultural and performing arts center.
