Early voting underway in Cumming council race

Early voting is underway for the runoff in the Cumming City Council Post 1 race set for Dec. 5.

Incumbent Chuck Welch and challenger Chad Crane tied in the Nov. 7 municipal election, with a Nov. 13 recount to certify the election showing both scored 441 votes. Preliminary results tabulated right after the election showed Crane coming out three votes ahead.

Advance voting will be held 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Dec. 1 at Cumming City Hall, 100 Main St. If a person requested and was mailed an absentee ballot for the Nov 7. election, they will need to submit a new application for the runoff. Information: 770-781-2010.
