Roswell police are asking travelers to avoid parts of Ga. 9 that lead to downtown after an early morning car accident took down a utility pole.
The accident happened around 3 a.m. Monday after a driver crashed into a transmission pole on Ga. 9 (Alpharetta Street) at Route 120 (Marietta Highway). The utility pole provides power to nearby traffic lights and reversible signage on Ga. 9.
Officials said the accident has caused closures and detours in downtown Roswell. Police are re-routing driving at Jones Drive and redirecting traffic to southbound Azalea Drive.
Roswell police and city transportation officials said the transmission pole will get reset, but power to traffic lights and signs are not expected to go get turned on until mid-afternoon.
