The Dunwoody City Council approved revision of the building code earlier this month.

Stricter construction guidelines are now required on buildings more than three stories high or more than 200,000 square feet in gross floor area.

Council members cited safety and quality concerns before they voted to change the code requiring steel and metal frame construction for buildings of the specified height and size. Prior to the vote, larger buildings could be constructed of wood frame construction.

Mayor Mike Davis was the only disenting vote on the building code revision.
